Can the Bayern academy prepare another youngster for first-team football?
One of the biggest headlines relating to Bayern Munich winning the Bundesliga title this campaign is star player Harry Kane winning his first trophy in his professional career. While the Englishman has the striker position locked down at Bayern Munich for the immediate future, at 31 years old, it’s a role that he will eventually age out of.
Currently, Bayern has a 17-year-old Jonah Kusi-Asare waiting to make his breakthrough, and an out-of-favour Mathys Tel loaned to Tottenham as its future striking prospects. It’s entirely possible that either of these players proves themselves worthy of eventually taking up Kane’s mantle. However, adding a prospective wonderkid to the mix can’t possibly hurt the situation.
According to the Egyptian sports outlet, Yallakora, Bayern is eyeing up 17-year-old Al Ahly striker Hamza Abdelkarim. Der Reckordmeister has supposedly made a bid, with Al Ahly considering the offer.

While Abdelkarim has played only two minutes of first-team football for Al Ahly, he has managed three goals in four matches for Egypt’s U-17 side (FotMob). Statistics for his performances with Al Ahly’s youth sides are hard to come by, however, all available indicators point to Abdelkarim being a promising young player. If Bayern can capture Abdelkarim for a low fee, the move seems like a no-brainer.
