Chelsea have had a solid season which could yet see them clinch Champions League qualification and potentially win the Europa Conference League.
Enzo Maresca’s charges were quick out of the starting blocks early this season and, while they suffered a downturn in form, they remain among the favourites for a top-five spot.
Chelsea have had a fair few players do especially well this season, and there’s certainly scope for one or two of them to be in the running for a Team of the Season.
However, Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Season features no Chelsea players, and Blues fans are unhappy about the omission of one player in particular.
Chelsea fans unhappy Moises Caicedo hasn’t made Team of the Season
The player in question is Moises Caicedo, who has enjoyed a superb campaign on an individual level.
Chelsea fans were angry at Caicedo’s omission and made their feelings known on social media.
“Why people sleeping on Caicedo,” one fan wrote on X. “He did so much more than Rice this season.”
Another fan wrote: “Na this is wrong WHERE IS CAICEDO his performances in the Conference League way better than Rice.”
The criticism of Shearer’s selection kept coming, with one fan saying: “Someone pls tell me what Rice and Mac Allister is doing there, why not Caicedo.”
Another wrote: “There is no way there are sane people (non-Arsenal fans) who actually think Rice has had a better season than Caicedo?
“He hasn’t even been better than Tielemans and Gravenberch, let alone Caicedo. Insane levels of delusion.”
Another said: “Tonali and Rice were good but they were not even close to Caicedo this season.”
Gianfranco Zola previously said Caicedo has been “really, really good” this season and his performance levels have been a “big surprise”.

For instance, Caicedo has excelled on the defensive front and is ahead of Rice in terms of interceptions, tackles and clearances, along with touches of the ball, passes, and pass completion.
However, Rice is ahead when it comes to goals, assists, shots, big chances created and crosses, whilst also just ahead in terms of blocks.
At the end of the day, while Caicedo may not have got the recognition from Shearer, he could yet finish this season with a trophy, which is not the case with Rice.
