Ruben Amorim’s project at Manchester United suffered a seismic blow after the Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.
Brennan Johnson’s one and only goal sealed Manchester United’s fate as the runners-up in the competition once again after famously losing to Villarreal in 2021 as well.
Leeds United supporters would have been delighted to witness United hit a new low as the two clubs have been familiar foes for decades.
Man United’s Europa League loss vs Tottenham could help Leeds United sign Manor Solomon
Leeds are interested in signing Manor Solomon and Manchester United’s defeat to Tottenham is also great news for Daniel Farke’s side as the Lilywhites may now be prompted to sell the Israeli winger for a number of reasons.
First and foremost, with UEFA rewarding Tottenham with £10.95 million for winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou’s side may not be keen to offload their sellable assets like Solomon with a bid to use the injection of cash to rebuild their squad.
Tottenham are ready to sell Solomon anyway, with Leeds having the chance to snap him up for £20 million this summer.
Solomon wants to join Leeds permanently, which is unsurprising considering he has thrived at Elland Road — registering 10 goals and 13 assists in 31 starts this season.
With Tottenham set to spend big this summer as well, the Whites have every reason to celebrate Manchester United’s latest loss.
Manor Solomon could very well also be delighted if Spurs decide that one of their first orders of business in the summer is to let him make a permanent move to the promoted side.
Tottenham interested in signing one Leeds United player
Tottenham are interested in signing Harry Gray — who is Archie Gray’s younger brother.
However, Leeds are confident of keeping the Englishman, despite Arsenal and Newcastle United also being in the race for the teenager’s signature.
While a move for Gray might be one for the future from Tottenham’s point of view, they could be focused on the here and now in the summer — starting by offloading Solomon and granting him his wish to join Leeds.
