Tottenham Hotspur are Europa League champions, and there may well be a few sore heads in Bilbao on Thursday morning.
Indeed, Spurs’ players, understandably, partied into the early hours of the morning after making history on Wednesday night.
Tottenham weren’t fancied to beat Man United, but they got the job done in the end.
It was reported ahead of the game that Ange Postecoglou was likely to be sacked regardless of the result, but now that this scenario has actually arrived, it doesn’t quite seem to be that simple.
Tottenham’s players were incredibly happy for their manager on Wednesday, and according to Laurie Whitwell, speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, Spurs’ players were singing Ange Postecoglou’s name constantly at the team party after the game.

Whitwell shared what he’d heard about Tottenham’s team party on Wednesday night.
According to the journalist, Ange Postecoglou’s name was consistently sung at the party.
“Jack has reported in The Athletic that there are a few other managers they’re looking at. It will be really fascinating to see what happens. There was a big team party at the Spurs hotel last night where they were all singing his (Postecoglou’s) name, I’m told,” Whitwell said.
“To Jack’s point, having the banner out on the pitch, that’s big right? Players demonstrably showing support for the manager.”
Tottenham managers to win trophies
No matter what happens to Ange Postecoglou after this game, he’s written his name into Spurs history.
Indeed, there aren’t many managers who can attest to having won a trophy with Tottenham.
Spurs have been mocked for their lack of success over the past two decades, but now, the trophy drought is over and Ange Postecoglou’s name goes into the history books alongside some of the greats.

Yes, Tottenham are set to finish 17th this season, and the campaign, as a whole, has been dire, but in 30 or 40 years’ time, Postecoglou will solely be remembered as the man who won the Europa League with Tottenham.
Whether you like it or not, Postecoglou’s legacy at Tottenham has now been secured.
