Velje are fourth in the Relegation Round of the Danish Superliga, while SonderjyskE are third, and the pair will finish in those positions regardless of what happens in the final round of action.

Match preview

Vejle will enter their final match of the campaign in excellent form, having picked up 10 points from their last four matches, with their last defeat coming to section winners Silkeborg on April 21.

Steffen Kielstrup‘s side have won their last two against Lyngby and Viborg without conceding, but they have only actually managed to record seven wins from their 31 matches this term.

Seven wins, seven draws and 17 defeats has brought them 28 points, with the team four points clear of the relegation zone, while they are six points off third, so fourth will be their final spot in the Relegation Round.

The Reds, who finished ninth in the Danish Superliga last term, drew 0-0 with Sonderjyske in the reverse match between the two teams back in November.

Sonderjyske, meanwhile, will enter this match off the back of a 5-1 success over Lyngby, with the team impressively bouncing back from their 1-0 reverse to Silkeborg on May 11.

Thomas Norgaard‘s side were promoted from the second tier last season, so it has been a successful campaign, with the team preparing for another year at this level of football.

SE have a record of nine wins, seven draws and 15 defeats from 31 matches to collect 34 points, which has left them in third spot in the Relegation Round, 10 points behind second-placed Viborg.

Sonderjyske have conceded 62 times in their 31 matches, which is the second-worst record in this section behind AaB at the bottom, showing their struggles in that area of the field this season.

However, SE have enjoyed their recent top-flight meetings with Vejle, losing just one of the last four encounters.

Team News

Velje will be without the services of both Tobias Lauritsen and Jelle Duin on Saturday due to injury problems.

No fresh issues have been reported from the team’s clash with Viborg last time out, though, and there is every chance that the team could be unchanged considering the impressive nature of the performance.

German Onugkha has scored 10 times in 14 appearances for the club since his arrival, and there will once again be a position in the final third of the field for the in-form attacker.

As for Sonderjyske, Simon Waever is missing due to a serious knee injury, while Matthew Hoppe is out with a muscular issue.

Jose Gallegos was an unused substitute against Lyngby last time out, and he will be in the manager’s thinking when it comes to potential alterations for the team’s final match of the campaign.

However, it could ultimately be an unchanged XI, including a spot for Lirim Qamili, who has found the back of the net on 11 occasions in the league during a strong season.

Vejle possible starting lineup:
Vekic; Gundelund, Velkov, Van Bruggen, Colina; Gammelgaard, Hetemi, Kirkegaard, Emmanouilidis; Jacobsen, Onugkha

SonderjyskE possible starting lineup:
Bundgaard; Oggesen, Soulas, Dal Hende, Duru; Bjorklund, Sommer, Lyng; Agger, Qamili, Hyseni

We say: Vejle 1-1 SonderjyskE

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in their last meeting back in November 2024, and we can see the same scoreline occurring here; both have players that can hurt the other in the final third of the field, so it should be a tight fixture.
