Tottenham fans thank Heung-min Son after Europa League win vs Man UnitedWhat Ange Postecoglou said about Son after Tottenham vs Man United

Son’s form for Tottenham has been criticised this season but after years of setting world-class standards, the South Korean legend deserved to finally win a trophy in a Lilywhites shirt.

The 32-year-old has not just been a gem of a player but a person as well, with Archie Gray lauding Son’s affable personality behind the scenes — which makes his success all the sweeter to witness.

While Ange Postecoglou took the bold decision of benching the former Hamburg winger in the final, it ultimately paid off as Richarlison put an absolute shift in and impressed on the left-wing.

Heung-min Son was eventually brought on as a late substitute by Postecoglou and after he helped Spurs seal their long-awaited triumph, Tottenham fans could not help but pay tribute to their legendary skipper.

Tottenham fans thank Heung-min Son after Europa League win vs Man United

One fan claimed Son deserves a statue outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after leading Ange Postecoglou’s side to winning the Europa League against Manchester United: “Sonny has not stopped crying man! Makes me emotional seeing him like that! He’s a fan, he’s one of us and he’s given his best years to us for this moment. So, so so happy for him! Now he needs a statue outside the stadium!”

A second supporter claimed that the veteran deserved to lift a trophy: “Loyal. Leader. Legend. Form is temporary but class is permanent. Heung-Min Son. Nobody deserves this more.”

A third Tottenham fan was emotional witnessing Son lifting the Europa League trophy after Tottenham came out on top against Manchester United: “I would die for this man. No one deserves it more. Legit [Legitimately] put tears in my eyes seeing him raise that trophy.”

A fourth Lilywhites supporter called the South Korean icon a Spurs legend, writing: “Remember when son said he doesn’t consider himself a legend until he wins something with us? He is officially a Tottenham legend by his definition.”

While a fifth supporter claimed that Son is Tottenham’s greatest player in the Premier League era due to his loyalty, consistency and the fact that he has won a trophy to add to his long list of feats: “Captained us to our first European trophy in 41 years, stayed with us through the thickest of times, thank you, for being the greatest player in Tottenham’s Premier League era, Son Heung-min.”

Finally, a sixth Tottenham fan was grateful to Son for deciding to stay at Spurs for a decade through thick and thin to become the first South Korean captain to lead his team to a major European trophy: “[Luka] Modric, [Gareth] Bale, Kane all left to achieve bigger things, but my man stayed all these years with us despite how poorly the club has been run. Forever grateful, man.”

The Spurs great would undoubtedly be over the moon by all the appreciation that has come his way after a truly special night for him.

What Ange Postecoglou said about Son after Tottenham vs Man United

Son is set to stay at Tottenham for one more season and after winning their Europa League win against Manchester United, Spurs fans would certainly not want to see the back of him.

Son congratulated Kane for winning the Bundesliga and after having felt the same feeling as his former teammate, he would perhaps love to help Tottenham build on their latest success.

After the contest, Ange Postecoglou told TNT Sports that one of his goals was to help his captain finally achieve his dream of winning silverware at Spurs: “These two guys [Glenn Hoddle and Gareth Bale] will tell you that we’ve had some unbelievable champion footballers come to this football club.”

“I don’t feel like I’ve completed a job here” 👀

“Harry’s [Kane] the prime example but there’s so many I can go through that haven’t had a day like this and I wanted a day like this for Sonny.”

Postecoglou continued: “He’s done everything he can in the last 10 years to try and get this feeling and for one reason or another, it hasn’t worked. It was kind of something in my head and I’ve spoken to the players a lot about it.”

“Outside the dressing room, inside the hallway, there’s displays of the winning teams, I said to Sonny, we’ve got to get there. He’s there now.”
