Liverpool is gearing up for its final match of an unforgettable season, hosting Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday. The Premier League champions have understandably seen a dip in form since securing the top-flight title last month.
However, this weekend’s encounter with Palace on Merseyside presents an opportunity to cap off a remarkable season on a high note. Anfield is expected to be buzzing as Liverpool prepares to hoist the title in front of their home crowd at full-time.
Focus will then shift to the summer transfer window, which due to the Club World Cup, will open early between June 1 and June 10. It will then reopen on June 16, running until deadline day on September 1.
Here are some of the latest media reports surrounding the Reds….
Viktor Gyokeres update
Portuguese publication A Bola has reported that Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal are the three clubs Gyokeres favors most. However, it’s suggested that negotiations will only ‘take shape’ after the Portuguese Cup, in line with the ‘wish’ of both Gyokeres and Sporting.
The Swedish international has emerged as one of Europe’s leading strikers in recent seasons, boasting an impressive tally of 96 goals in 101 matches since his move to Liga Portugal from Coventry City in July 2023.

Sporting’s top scorer has been a revelation in the Portuguese league this season, netting 39 goals and providing eight assists across 33 matches. The 26-year-old has played a pivotal role in Rui Borges’ team, propelling Sporting to secure the league title.
Gyokeres reportedly has a €100 million ($113M) buyout clause in his contract, yet it’s understood that Sporting might be open to negotiating a lower fee.
The news comes as Manchester United’s hopes of signing the striker have taken a massive blow following its defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final, meaning the Old Trafford club will be out of Europe completely next season.
Luis Diaz interest
In other news, Spanish publication Sport is once again covering Barcelona’s pursuit of Liverpool’s Luis Diaz, with the Catalan giants eyeing the Colombian to complement Raphinha and Lamine Yamal in their attack. They suggest that with Camp Nou’s reopening this year and Barcelona’s financial health improving, they could be ready to splash out the $97M they believe will be sufficient to land Diaz.

Liverpool could face a dilemma with Diaz, particularly if he doesn’t agree to a new deal soon, despite the winger expressing his desire to extend his stay at Anfield.
“Since the first day I arrived, I’ve always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team,” Diaz shared with Telemundo Deportes earlier in the month.
“We’ll be talking about it [about renewing], we’ll talk about it. For me, I’d stay however many years it takes.
“It also depends on the club, everything. These are details that are worked out separately.
“But I’m very calm, happy and enjoying the Premier League.”
