Al Hilal reportedly set deadline for Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes in $270 million deal

Bruno Fernandes has reportedly been given a deadline by Al Hilal to decide whether to accept a $270 million deal or stay at Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes has long been on the radar of the Saudi Pro League, and with Manchester United looking to ease their financial woes this summer, several top players could be on the move. Now, Al Hilal have reportedly set a deadline for Fernandes to decide on a blockbuster $270 million deal.

United are enduring one of the most disappointing seasons in their modern history. Currently sitting 16th in the Premier League and recently losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur, the club has failed to secure European qualification for next season. The downturn has fueled speculation surrounding the futures of several key players—including Fernandes.

According to the Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler, Al Hilal have given Fernandes until next week to decide whether he wants to join the Saudi Pro League or stay at Old Trafford. The Saudi club has already submitted an offer reportedly worth £200 million (approximately $270 million) to the Portuguese star.

The offer includes a three-year contract with a base salary of £700,000 per week and the potential to earn up to £65 million per season, including signing bonuses and incentives—far exceeding his current Manchester United salary. Should Fernandes accept, Al Hilal are prepared to offer United around £100 million as a transfer fee, which would make him the most expensive sale in the club’s history—surpassing even Cristiano Ronaldo.

Al Hilal, who will compete in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup beginning June 14, have been in search of a marquee signing since Neymar’s departure in January. They reportedly view Fernandes as the perfect centerpiece and are pushing for a swift decision.

United’s decision: Keep or cash in?

Through United’s recent struggles, Fernandes has often been the lone bright spot. However, the club’s mounting debt and lack of results have made it increasingly difficult to turn down high-value offers.

Manager Ruben Amorim has repeatedly called Fernandes a cornerstone of his project at United, and the midfielder has only missed two matches since Amorim took charge. Still, the club’s financial position may override footballing priorities.

Following United’s Europa League final loss on Wednesday, Fernandes was asked about his future. “If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in, it is what it is,” Fernandes told reporters in the mixed zone. Beloved by fans and vital on the pitch, Fernandes’ future may now hinge on his personal desire to stay—because from a business standpoint, the pressure to sell is real.
