The young Canadian has set high standards for himself and the club.
At the age of 15, Alphonso Davies made his professional debut for the Vancouver Whitecaps, the second-youngest player in MLS history behind Freddy Adu. Three years later, Davies transferred to Bayern Munich and became an instant sensation. In 2020, he was a key cog in Bayern’s Champions League title run, including the assist where he dribbled past five Barcelona players.
With a six-title season under his belt at the age of 20, what else is there to accomplish for the Roadrunner?
“As a footballer you want to win everything over and over again,” Davies told One Soccer (via @iMiaSanMia). “The hunger never stops. Putting my name in the history books at a club like Bayern Munich will be something special. I know it’s going to take a lot of work to be on that list of tremendous players who played for Bayern Munich. To be in that box, it’s going to take everything. Every day I step on that pitch, I’ll fight for them.”
Alongside Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich, who also signed recent extensions with Bayern, Davies will be the face of the franchise for the rest of the decade. Behind the aforementioned hunger, the trio will aim to fill Bayern’s trophy cases with more titles.
