Aston Villa lineup vs. Man United: Predicted XI for final Premier League game of 2024-25

2 Min Read

Aston Villa will be without Marcus Rashford for their final Premier League fixture of the 2024-25 season against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Rashford is nursing a hamstring injury that has kept his sidelined since the end of April, but the Red Devils loanee is ineligible anyway for this weekend’s contest.

Unai Emery did not provide a fresh update on the fitness of Villa’s Player of the Year Youri Tielemans at Friday’s press conference. The Belgian midfielder has missed the last two games with a calf injury and is a major doubt for the trip to Old Trafford.

However, Villa will welcome back Jacob Ramsey from a one-match suspension and he is in contention to be recalled to the starting lineup at the expense of either John McGinn or Marco Asensio.

Ollie Watkins is expected to start up front and will be looking to add to his 16 Premier League goals this season, while Morgan Rogers is also set to start in an advanced role, with Leon Bailey and Donyell Malen acting as cover on the substitutes’ bench.

Should Tielemans miss out again, Amadou Onana will likely link arms with Boubacar Kamara in centre-midfield, unless Emery opts to move McGinn from the left side of midfield into a deeper role.

Both Matty Cash and Ezri Konsa are set to continue in the back four, but Emery must weigh up whether to stick with Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen at centre-back and left-back respectively, or recall Tyrone Mings and Lucas Digne. Meanwhile Saudi-linked goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is set to start what could be his final game for Villa between the sticks.

Aston Villa possible starting lineup: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Onana; Rogers, Asensio, McGinn; Watkins
