Is it here we — oh no! time already?

A bombshell report has dropped Friday, which suggests that Premier League outfit Liverpool FC is about to beat Bayern Munich to the signature of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano posted the news on social media, citing The Athletic’s David Ornstein and journalist Sacha Tavolieri:

Liverpool are confident to get Florian Wirtz deal done after fresh contacts in last 24/48 hours.

Talks ongoing to get final green light but #LFC are now favorites ahead of Bayern in the race for German gem.

Liverpool want to be fast — as per @David_Ornstein @sachatavolieri.

Relevo’s Matteo Moretto is reporting similar, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:

Liverpool and Leverkusen are expected to finalize a deal for Florian Wirtz. The player is waiting for the clubs to advance in negotiations. Leverkusen have always preferred to sell him abroad [@MatteMoretto]

What’s really going on? Uli Hoeneß is supposedly meeting Wirtz personally at Tegernesse…but Liverpool could be betting that money talks. The outside media seems confident about this and it lines up with what Bayer Leverkusen reportedly want. We have not seen confirmation from German sources, though.

Ultimately, it may all come down to: what does Florian Wirtz want? We will see…
