Manchester United are reportedly open to selling Alejandro Garnacho during this summer’s transfer window, with the Argentina international’s relationship with head coach Ruben Amorim believed to have broken down.

Garnacho has scored 11 goals and registered 10 assists in 58 appearances for Man United this season, but he was surprisingly left out of the starting XI for the Europa League final with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

The 20-year-old was eventually introduced in the 71st minute of the match, and his brother and agent took to social media shortly after the full-time whistle at San Mames to criticise Amorim’s decision.

“Working as no one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 mins and get thrown under the bus. Wowe hahahahahaha,” Roberto Garnacho wrote on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Garnacho was quoted as saying by AlbicelesteTalk: “I played every round to help the team reach the final, and today I only got 20 minutes. I don’t know. I will try to enjoy the summer and then see what happens.”

Man United, Garnacho ‘open to parting ways’

Amorim was questioned about his decision not to start Garnacho in the final, and the Man United head coach appeared to aim a dig at the youngster.

“It’s easy to say that now. Who missed the big opportunity in the first half in the semi-final? Garnacho. Football is like that,” he told reporters.

According to ESPN, Man United and Garnacho’s representatives are expected to sit down in the coming days to discuss the former Atletico Madrid youngster, who has shown his frustration on a number of occasions this season.

The report claims that Garnacho is particularly unhappy at how Amorim managed his withdrawal from the starting XI against Tottenham, and it is now seen as likely that the forward will move on during this summer’s transfer window.

Man United ‘want £60m for Garnacho’

According to The Telegraph, Man United are not prepared to sell Garnacho on the cheap this summer and would want a fee in the region of £60m to let him leave Old Trafford ahead of next season.

Any sale of the forward would count as pure profit under the Premier League’s rules surrounding profit and sustainability, and Man United need a financial boost following their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Garnacho made the move to Man United from Atletico in 2022, and he has represented the Red Devils on 144 occasions in all competitions, scoring 26 goals and registering 22 assists in the process.

Napoli are believed to have had at least one offer rejected for the attacker in January, while Chelsea were also credited with an interest earlier this year, and it is understood that both clubs remain keen on his services.

Garnacho could return to the starting XI when Man United conclude their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa on Sunday, but his post-match comments may also have cost him a spot in the squad.
