Scott McTominay’s weekly salary at Napoli ‘leaked’ after winning Serie A title and Man Utd fans will be in disbelief

Scott McTominay is earning a packet as a Serie A champion and the league’s MVP in his first season in Italy.

The former Manchester United midfielder‘s move to Napoli ended a 22-year association with his boyhood club, banking the Red Devils a reported fee of £25.7 million.

McTominay joined Antonio Conte in Naples after a tenth-placed finish left the club outside the European places the season after winning their third Scudetto.

With the 28-year-old Lancastrian leading the way along with top goalscorer Romelu Lukaku, Napoli have picked up their fourth league title in 2024-25.

The Scotland international ended the season with a fantastic return of 12 Serie A goals and four assists, making him a popular figure not only with Napoli’s famously passionate fans but with his teammates and the Italian sports media too.

Earlier in the season, McTominay’s weekly salary was ‘leaked’ and it might have been a shock for some supporters of his former club in the Premier League.

The midfielder is one of Napoli’s highest earners and the amount he earns each week is notable compared to Premier League players.

According to Capology, McTominay pulls in a yearly salary of €5.56 million (£4.75 million), or around €107,000 (£91,500) per week.

That would put him below 15 Manchester United stars in terms of yearly earnings (via Spotrac).

He earns more than Diogo Dalot, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo but United’s other first team regulars have a higher salary.

Casemiro, the Red Devils’ highest earner, is reportedly on four times more than McTominay, earning £18.2 million a year.

McTominay scored his 12th goal of the season against Cagliari, putting Napoli in the driving seat on a night when synchronised fixtures involving the Partenopei in Naples and runners-up Inter Milan at Como.

The Serie A title is the first league championship of McTominay’s career and he’s on a higher weekly wage in Italy too.

According to a report in the Daily Star last year, he earned £60,000 a week on his previous United contract.

A deafening reception when he was introduced to the Diego Maradona crowd as Napoli prepared to lift the trophy on the wrong side of midnight will live with him forever.
