Manchester United lost in the Europa League final on Wednesday evening, and now, the inquest has begun on what has been an awful season at Old Trafford.
This has been a generationally poor season for Manchester United, they’re 16th in the Premier League with no silverware to show off either.

A number of Manchester United players have been criticised this term, Casemiro was a scapegoat at one point, while Rasmus Hojlund has been under fire.
Ruben Amorim has also been questioned, and after losing to Tottenham, Amorim even offered to leave the club without any compensation.
Speaking on It’s Called Soccer, Gary Neville has been discussing Ruben Amorim’s comments in the wake of this defeat, and he’s told the United boss that he should never go down this path again.
Gary Neville’s advice for Ruben Amorim
Neville reacted after hearing Ruben Amorim’s comments this week.
The pundit says Amorim should never offer himself up in this way again, claiming that, while it’s honourable to shoulder the blame for these issues, it’s not a path he should be going down.
Instead, Neville wants to see Amorim offer up solutions and explanations.
“Ruben Amorim is so honest in his press conferences, to a fault actually. How can you say to a manager don’t be as honest. I think he’s fantastic. However, don’t offer yourself up, don’t offer yourself up ever, Ruben, don’t do that,” Neville said.
“I’m talking as a 50-year-old who, at times, has thought that’s the right thing to do. He’s very young and he’s saying the admirable thing. Don’t offer yourself up, tell us how you’re going to drive a bus through that dressing room and how you’re going to fix it. Focus on that.
“Stop offering yourself up, stop doing the honourable thing, the reasons you’re losing and the club is failing is a series of things that aren’t all down to you. None of those players are yours, apart from Dorgu, you didn’t sign any of those players.”

Neville is spot on, Amorim shouldn’t be putting his head on the chopping block like this.
Amorim is the face of this football club, and if he’s speaking in this way, it sends out a hugely negative message.
By the sounds of things, Amorim’s job is safe heading into next season, but there’s an argument to make that he should be under serious pressure.
Indeed, Amorim’s record since arriving at Manchester United is nothing short of dire, and many other managers have been sacked for a lot less.

As Neville says, this isn’t Amorim’s squad yet as he’s not made any statement signings, and while Matheus Cunha could be set to arrive this summer, United will need to undergo a massive overhaul if they’re going to change their fortunes.
