Tottenham fans urge Daniel Levy to re-sign player he once sold for £30m, Spurs can get him for free now

Tottenham Hotspur fans are dreaming of big things after seeing their side win the Europa League title.

Spurs will return to the Champions League next season, and Daniel Levy has to back Ange Postecoglou – or whoever will be in charge – in the transfer market.

The focus in recent years has been on youth, and the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, among others, have been excellent additions.

Now, with a season in the Champions League coming up, Tottenham need experience, and a perfect player has just become available on a free transfer.

Tottenham fans want Luka Modric back

Luka Modric has just announced that he will be leaving Real Madrid this summer.

The Croatian was sold by Spurs to the Galacticos for around £30 million (BBC) in the summer of 2012, and he has become one of the greatest players to ever play for Los Blancos.

Now that he will soon be available on a free transfer, many Tottenham fans would like to see Modric return to Spurs for one last dance.

Replying to a post asking if Spurs should re-sign Modric, one fan said: “He’d help the younger players. 100 per cent bring him back before he goes into coaching!”

Another wrote: “For one season, of course! Similar to the effect Davids had on the youngsters in ’05, Carrick, etc. Free transfer, achievable wages. No brainer for a year. Bergvall & Gray would love him!”

“Much better than Bentancur and Bissouma, even though he doesn’t play holding. Bergvall, Maddison, Kulu and Sarr would be able to learn directly from the maestro,” tweeted another.

Another Tottenham supporter wrote: “Absolutely. One-year deal. Mentors Bergvall and Gray (and Deki and Madderz and more).”

“We should be all over Modric,” said another.

Ange Postecoglou has called for experienced signings at Tottenham

Tottenham have signed a lot of young players in recent years.

Gray and Bergvall have made a great name for themselves this season, while Wilson Odobert has produced a few eye-catching performances too.

Spurs have managed to win the Europa League title with that squad, but to go to the next level, Ange Postecoglou has asked for experienced players.

“We’re still building this team,” Postecoglou said after the final, as quoted by Football London.

“It’s a young team, we need to add experience. My thought process has been about building a team that can be successful for five or six years.”

Tottenham will not find a more experienced player who has done it all at the top level than Modric this summer.
