Tah is still trying to make a final decision on whether he should come to Bayern or wind up going elsewhere.

One week on from the conclusion of the Bundesliga season, the dust is starting to settle from Bayern Munich’s title celebrations as gears about to shift to an international break just before the FIFA Club World Cup for the German Rekordmeister. While the tournament in the United States is going on, the club’s front office will still be working on getting all of their transfer business done, though there is certainly a preference to get as much done prior to the Club World Cup kicking off as possible.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz remains to be Bayern’s top transfer target, but Die Werkself and Germany compatriot Jonathan Tah has also been rumored to be highly likely to join Bayern this summer. His contract with Leverkusen expires at the end of the month and he would be joining Bayern on a free transfer. All signs have been pointing to a move to Munich for the center back after Eric Dier has officially signed for AS Monaco and Kim Min-jae has also been told he would be allowed to leave Bayern this summer.

Per information from SportBild’s Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia), though, the defender is currently still weighing his options whilst on holiday. Negotiations are still ongoing between the player, his representatives, and Bayern; primarily over the length of the contract that would be offered. Still, though, an agreement is not yet in place and Bayern is reportedly a bit puzzled as to why Tah still hasn’t given the thumbs up to a move, especially considering the position he was in about eleven months ago.

Back in last summer’s transfer window, everything looked set for Bayern to sign Tah before he entered into the last year of his contract, but slight disagreements in his valuation ultimately prevented a deal from transpiring. Board member for sport Max Eberl has always been a big fan of Tah’s, but the club knew his contract ended next month and were thus unwilling to budge, even slightly, on what they were willing to pay for him last summer. They had also staved off Barcelona, who also showed heavy interest in trying to sign Tah.

At this juncture, Real Madrid is still in the mix despite Bayern being the odds-on favorites to land Tah. Nonetheless, Bayern still hopes that they can get a deal over the line once the defender returns from holiday, or perhaps even after the international break since he was called up to the Germany squad by Julian Nagelsmann. Bayern would like to have everything sorted on time for them to be able to register him in the squad for the Club World Cup.
