Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has branded Liverpool‘s Luis Diaz and Manchester United‘s Marcus Rashford “fantastic players”, with the German confirming that he is in favour of one of the duo arriving this summer.
Last week, Barcelona sporting director Deco revealed that his club were considering a move for Diaz or Rashford during this summer’s transfer window.
“Talking about players who have contracts with other clubs is complicated out of respect. We like Luis [Diaz], we like [Marcus] Rashford, and we like other players. When we go to the market, there are names that we know and that could improve the team,” Deco told RAC1.
Flick was asked about the duo during his press conference on Saturday, and the Barcelona head coach confirmed that Diaz and Rashford were both regarded as targets, as the Catalan giants look to bring in a new winger.
“I don’t want to talk about players who are not in my team, but they are both fantastic players and I like them. We’ll see what happens,” he told reporters.
When asked about a new winger being discussed by senior figures at the club, he said: “That’s what we talked about. In the last few games, we haven’t had much of a chance there. We have to try to improve.”

Flick confirms Barca interest in Diaz, Rashford
Diaz has scored 17 times and registered eight assists in 49 appearances for Liverpool this season, while he has two years left to run on his contract with the Merseyside giants.
Rashford, meanwhile, has spent the second half of this season on loan at Aston Villa, scoring four goals and registering six assists in 17 appearances, and Unai Emery‘s side have the chance to sign him for £40m this summer.
However, it is understood that Rashford is holding out hope that Barcelona will make a move for him.
The 27-year-old fits the brief in terms of what Barcelona are looking for this summer, while £40m for a player who has scored 138 times for Man United could be regarded as a bargain deal.

Barcelona will conclude La Liga campaign against Athletic
Barcelona will conclude their 2024-25 La Liga campaign with a clash against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday night.
“We are very focused, it’s great to have three days off but we came back together and after two training sessions I have seen the team very committed and ready to show their potential,” Flick added ahead of the game with Athletic.
Barcelona have won three domestic trophies this season, triumphing in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
The Catalan outfit fell short in the Champions League, though, being knocked out in the semi-finals by Inter Milan, with the Italian giants preparing to tackle Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the competition.
