It’s very early days, but there’s an argument to be made that Liverpool have already won the summer transfer window.
Indeed, Jeremie Frimpong is set to join Liverpool, while the Reds are closing in on signing Florian Wirtz too.
Liverpool won the league this season by some distance, and they could be set to do the same again next year at this rate.
However, Arsenal will want to go stride-for-stride with Liverpool this summer, and speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Ben Jacobs has shared some insight into what Arsenal’s summer window could look like.
Arsenal could have a window as big as Liverpool
Jacobs shared an update on Arsenal after a blockbuster week on the transfer front for Liverpool.
According to the journalist, the Gunners are still set for a big transfer window, and they could ultimately still end up having a window as big as Liverpool’s.
“Arsenal want a left-back, Liverpool are going for Kerkez, I think Arsenal have a different type of profile in mind,” Jacobs said.
“With Zubimendi, it’s a midfielder, Liverpool aren’t entering that equation in Zubimendi’s profile.
“Now, we’ll start to see if Liverpool want a wide attacker or a number nine and Arsenal have those in their thinking.
“There’s one race between your own targets and your business when you have the money and you plan, then you have the second part which is the undecided player in demand head to head, and we will see a lot of crossover between Premier League clubs.
“Arsenal have a big window in them and at the end of it, it may even be as big as Liverpool’s, but I can understand why Arsenal fans are watching what Liverpool are doing now and feeling envious.”
How much are Liverpool set to spend this summer?
Arsenal could have a window as big as Liverpool’s and that is very exciting to hear.
Indeed, between Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, Liverpool already have three big-money deals lined up, especially as Wirtz is valued at £126m, and Kerkez could cost £40m.
Liverpool potential signings | Fee |
Jeremie Frimpong | £30m |
Florian Wirtz | £126m |
Milos Kerkez | £40m |
New striker | ? |
Projected spending | >£196m |
On top of that, Darwin Nunez is set to leave Liverpool, so a new striker may also be added on top of this.
Liverpool and Arsenal could both be set to spend over £200m this summer, and that could make next season’s title race all the more mouth-watering if both teams add quality and address their problem positions.
