The Bayer Leverkusen revenge tour is wild…

Bayer Leverkusen has a bone (or ten) to pick with Bayern Munich these days and seems to be doing everything it can to stagger the Bavarians.

The bad blood built up between the clubs over last summer’s failed pursuit of defender Jonathan Tah by Bayern Munich also seems to have intensified all matters between the organizations.

With Tah as a free agent this summer, he is reportedly set to ink a deal with Bayern Munich, but Leverkusen is reportedly attempting to milk some extra coin from the proceedings by levying a fee on the Bavarians to get Tah in time for the Club World Cup per kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):

Bayer Leverkusen are demanding a 7-figure fee to let Jonathan Tah play for Bayern at the World Cup. The asking price is in the lower to mid million range. Leverkusen’s stance is clear – Bayern won’t get anything for free. They don’t want to contribute to Bayern becoming even stronger financially than they already are as a result of success in the Club World Cup.

As far as a comment from Bayern Munich on the matter, club president Herbert Hainer said that talks were “intensive.”

“Regarding Jonathan Tah, I can tell you that our sporting management is in intensive talks with him. I’m very positive, but it’s not final yet,” Hainer told Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch (via @iMiaSanMia).

It feels like there has to be a song or 5,000,000 written about a relationship being this broken down.

The news that Bayern Munich had coughed up the Florian Wirtz transfer was shocking. Even more stunning was that it was Liverpool FC, who ultimately won the Germany international’s heart. So…what next? Let’s rehash how it all went down, why it happened, and then talk about what might on tap next for the Bavarians, who have to start their transfer dealings all over again.
