Manchester United have a huge summer coming up as they look to strengthen their ranks while coming to terms with a huge loss in potential revenue.

Manchester United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham means Spurs have qualified for the Champions League at the Red Devils’ expense.

Now, Man United are without any kind of European football and are set to finish the campaign trophy-less and in the lower reaches of the Premier League table.

Gary Neville has now shared what he’s been hearing about Man United’s transfer budget this summer and explained why he’s especially concerned about things.

Gary Neville hears Manchester United will have £100million to spend this summer

Neville, speaking on Episode 34 of It’s Called Soccer, expressed his disbelief at Man United being at risk of “running out of cash”.

For context, Sir Jim Ratcliffe said in an interview with Neville earlier this year that the club would have run out of cash if things had been left the way they were.

Neville then commented on reports he had heard regarding Ruben Amorim being handed a £100million transfer chest this summer.

“They’re now in a situation where they’re running out of cash, I can’t believe I’m saying that,” said Neville.

“I think they’re today saying that Ruben Amorim will get £100million, that’s the sort of noise I’m hearing.

“That’s where they’re at. Amorim is going to stay – good, that’s fine – and they’re going to give him £100million.

“I would probably ask the question – who’s going to have to be sold to fund that? There’s going to have to be some incoming money I suspect.”

Neville, speculating, then listed Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo as players who could be in line to be sold this summer.

He added: “I tell you what, there’s something fundamentally wrong when you’re ripping the heart out of an academy at a football club.”

Why Manchester United now stand to lose a further £10m following Europa League loss

Had Man United won the Europa League, not only would it have been solace for long-suffering fans, but it would’ve gone a long way towards boosting the club’s finances.

However, Man United are now believed to have missed out on around £100million in revenue by failing to reach the Champions League, as per The Guardian.

In addition, Man United’s agreement with kit provider Adidas dictates that they cannot spend successive years out of the Champions League.

Now, the Red Devils will reportedly need to pay £10million to Adidas as a result of failing to qualify for the competition yet again.
