Trent Alexander-Arnold will bid farewell to Liverpool on Sunday and he has sent a message to supporters ahead of doing so.
It is not clear whether the right-back will feature against Crystal Palace at Anfield after he was booed upon entering the field against Arsenal earlier this month.
He was an unused substitute against Brighton in midweek, and Arne Slot neglected to say whether he planned to use the 26-year-old against Palace, but unsurprisingly did say he deserved to take part in the celebrations.
Alexander-Arnold took to social media platform X on the eve of the game against Palace, with a simple message, which said: “20 years. Gave it everything.”
Alexander-Arnold joined Liverpool as a young boy and went on to make over 350 appearances for the first team, but he has riled supporters by choosing to leave the club on a free transfer.
His move to Real Madrid is yet to be formally announced but there is no doubt that he will be a Madrid player next season, where he will play under former Liverpool star Xabi Alonso.
Slot was asked at a press conference on Friday whether Alexander-Arnold would feature against Palace and said: “I haven’t decided yet. I think this should be a day that everybody is going to enjoy.
“It’s been 35 years, everybody is waiting for this moment, and I think we’ve set the example against Tottenham. I’ve never seen celebrations like that day.
“One of the two things that made me emotional about that day is the fans singing for us when we arrived at the stadium, and the other is multiple people telling me that they’ve never felt a day at Anfield as special as the game against Tottenham. I am hoping we can add to this on Sunday.

“Trent definitely deserves to be there, he’s been part of a successful season, and successful years at this club. I have a lot of trust in our fans.”
Meanwhile, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who is set to attend Sunday’s game against Palace, defended Alexander-Arnold over his decision to move to Madrid, and criticized the Liverpool supporters who jeered him against Arsenal.
“I don’t want to tell you what you have to think. I can tell you what you think is wrong,” Klopp said. “I don’t tell you you should not be angry, you should not be disappointed, I tell you don’t forget. This club doesn’t forget.
“I watched the game when he came on and I heard the booing. I switched the telly [television] off. Honestly, I could not have been more disappointed at this moment.”
