Liverpool is wasting no time in strengthening Arne Slot’s squad following this season’s Premier League title triumph.

Already, the Reds look as though they may be on the verge of two new additions, both from Bayer Leverkusen. Jeremie Frimpong may already be a Liverpool player if reports are to be believed, with the right-back having undergone a medical this week, and he may well be joined by one of his Bundesliga teammates.

Speculation is growing over Florian Wirtz, with the Reds now looking to be leading the race for his signature after Manchester City pulled out, and Bayern Munich was told of his desire to move to the Premier League.

Even more signings could be in the works, with Milos Kerkez looking to be the first-choice for a new left-back, while rumors persist over potential candidates for the No.9 role, with the likes of Julian Alvarez and Benjamin Sesko being linked.

For now, only one new arrival is guaranteed this summer, with goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili set to complete his move from Valencia after a deal was agreed last year.

Frimpong should be the next new face to enter the doors at Anfield, although reports in Germany suggest it may still be a while before that deal is officially announced.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the 24-year-old has passed his medical and signed his contract with the Reds.

However, an official announcement is still expected to take a while “for certain reasons”. Plettenberg doesn’t disclose what those reasons are, although he does note that both Frimpong AND Wirtz will soon be Liverpool players.

That could point to a joint announcement being planned for the Leverkusen teammates, although nothing is confirmed at this stage, especially with a deal still to be agreed for Wirtz.

Frimpong’s move looks to have been secured though, with it now looking to be a matter of when, not if, he is unveiled as a Liverpool player.

Wirtz is said to be valued at around $169 million (£126 million) by Bayer Leverkusen, however Liverpool could negotiate a smaller up front fee with realistic add-ons on top.

It is thought that Leverkusen would be more willing to let Wirtz leave for a club abroad rather than selling to a direct rival. Bayern Munich finished one place and 13 points ahead of Xabi Alonso’s men this season.

Liverpool.com says: Liverpool fans will obviously be eager for that first announcement, although everyone seems to know that Frimpong is effectively done at this point.

It wouldn’t be that big a surprise then if a joint announcement is perhaps being planned alongside Wirtz. If that is the case, then we can certainly forgive the slightly longer wait.
