In a recent Give Me Sport newsletter, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are big admirers of Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo. Romano said,
“Semenyo is appreciated, yes, but at the moment it’s still early for a negotiation… and Bournemouth will try to keep him.”
Semenyo’s Impressive Numbers In English Football
Semenyo had a productive campaign at the English club as he was responsible for putting in a run of eye-catching displays on the left side of their attack. The Ghana international featured in 42 matches for the Cherries last season, finding the back of the net on 13 occasions and picking up seven assists in the process across various competitions.
The London-born wing wizard gave a good account of himself in the final third after he attempted 3.51 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he kept only 32% of his attempts on target. He also needs to improve his ball distribution in the opposition half based on his pass completion rate of 73.4% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).
Semenyo’s current deal at the Vitality Stadium will run out in the summer of 2029 which could make it tough for the North London giants to sign him on the cheap in this transfer window.
What Will Semenyo Bring To Tottenham Hotspur?
Semenyo can use his quickness to make cause a lot of problems for his marker out on the flanks. He can strike the ball with venom from long range but needs to keep more of his shots on target.
The Ghanaian sensation has also got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the field. He mainly functions as a left-sided winger but can also play as a right-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager.
We can expect Semeyo to bring more firepower to Tottenham’s frontline. He has what it takes to secure a regular starting spot at the North London club next season.
At 25, the best is yet to come from Semenyo. Thus, Spurs would be wise to bring him on board before the end of this transfer window. Furthermore, the talented winger could help the London club compete across all fronts over the next few years.
