Report: What Tottenham are now admitting to themselves about signing Marc Guehi this summer

3 Min Read

This summer transfer window will tell us a lot about Tottenham Hotspur and where they’re going as a club.

Spurs have been caught short this season, and, quite simply, they haven’t been good enough.

Fans are getting frustrated, and they’re making their voices heard with protests against Daniel Levy’s running of the club.

Levy has been affected by these protests, and one of the only was he can get fans back on side is by signing some quality players this summer.

Tottenham bid for Marc Guehi towards the end of the summer transfer window, and Spurs could well revisit that move in the summer.

However, according to GiveMeSport, there isn’t much confidence within Spurs that they’ll be able to get this deal done.

How Tottenham rate their chances of signing Marc Guehi

According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham do want to sign Marc Guehi in the summer transfer window.

Spurs have also been linked with Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. In fact, according to some, Spurs are favourites to sign Eze.

However, Tottenham’s chances of signing Guehi aren’t quite so high.

Indeed, according to this report, Tottenham acknowledge internally that signing Guehi will be difficult, noting that he wasn’t so keen on a move in January either.

Chelsea have been linked to Guehi too, and that move may be more appealing.

Tottenham centre-back options next season

Tottenham don’t feel confident about signing Guehi from Crystal Palace, but they will need a new centre-back.

Indeed, Spurs’ centre-back situation this season has been borderline ridiculous at times, and while Tottenham do have the numbers at the back, they don’t have the reliability.

Kevin Danso, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin should provide enough depth at centre-half, or, so you would think.

Indeed, four centre-backs is an acceptable number of defenders to have, especially with the likes of Archie Gray and Ben Davies able to fill in.

However, as we’ve seen this season, a number of Tottenham’s defensive options are simply too fragile to fully trust as the likes of Van de Ven, Romero and Dragusin have missed key periods of this season.

Tottenham need to add another defensive option, but it would appear they face an uphill battle if they want to land Guehi.
