Mohamed Salah has scored 30 goals so far this season and assisted another 22. But Liverpool will be losing him when the campaign ends as things stand — because his contract will soon expire.
It is thought, though, that the Egyptian is very happy at Liverpool. His form this season — he is arguably performing at a higher level than ever before — would certainly point to that.
Salah’s family is settled on Merseyside and while it is understood that interest in taking him to Saudi Arabia remains, it is far less certain that he would be open to such a move. Right now, it would not make any sense for the world’s best soccer star to be playing in a league that garners so little interest.
Liverpool is the best place for Salah in terms of being a club that can compete for all the trophies that he wants to win and can also provide a platform for him to win the Ballon d’Or. While club trophies come above individual accolades, the two can go hand in hand.
At the moment, there are no clubs out there that it would make sense for him to join instead of remaining with the Reds. And according to Telefoot, Salah’s representatives are not in talks with any other clubs, even though they would be permitted to. Because the player is out of contract in under six months, the Egyptian can speak with other potential employers and agree a pre-contract.
The options are limited, though, assuming that he wouldn’t join a Premier League rival. Real Madrid is well-stocked in attack, Barcelona is strapped for cash and already has Lamine Yamal, and PSG is now focusing on younger talents.

“I want fans to remember that I gave it all to the fans, I gave it all to the city,” Salah told TNT Sports this week. “I was here, I wasn’t lazy, I just enjoyed my football and gave it all.
“I think that’s what the city is about — they give you love and you have a connection with them because you give your all. I just want them to remember that I was here for eight years and I gave it all.”
Chasing record after record, Salah has already moved into the top three Liverpool goalscorers of all time. If he extends his contract, he could overtake Roger Hunt in second spot.
Liverpool.com says: Salah should be staying at Anfield and there is no question about it. For both parties (the player and the club) it just makes all the sense in the world. Losing him after a season of scoring and assisting at a record rate would make him impossible to replace. Frankly, it would be ludicrous for Salah to be playing in Saudi Arabia, though those links will undoubtedly continue.
