With just 11 matchdays of the 2024-25 Premier League season remaining, there is still plenty to play for across the division.
However, there are still five rounds of matches remaining before the league’s cut-off for 10 yellow cards resulting in a two-match suspension for players at a crucial time of the campaign.

Crystal Palace midfielder Will Hughes and Fulham’s Sasa Lukic became the first players to reach 10 bookings during gameweek 27, with both now set to serve a two-game suspension in the Premier League.
Hughes will miss his side’s home match against Ipswich Town and trip to Southampton, while Lukic will be unavailable for Fulham’s game at Brighton & Hove Albion and the home fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.
There are likely to be many more players who fall foul of the 10-yellow suspension, which would see them ruled out of two matches.
How many yellow cards result in a Premier League suspension?
Players who accumulate 10 yellow cards in Premier League matches, up to and including their team’s 32nd fixture, will serve a two-match suspension in the competition. Yellow cards are not carried over to the Carabao Cup or FA Cup.
If the 10th booking comes after their side’s 32nd fixture, it will not result in a suspension.
The all-important 32nd set of fixtures is currently set to be played on the weekend of April 12-13.
The first cut-off point in the season for yellow cards resulting in a suspension comes up to and including their team’s 19th fixture, when any player who earns five yellow cards in that timeframe receives a one-match league ban.
Players can still receive a three-match-ban if they pick up 15 yellow cards before the end of the season.
Which players are close to a ban?
Five players are currently on nine league yellow cards and thus one booking away from a one-match suspension. They are:
- Joelinton (Newcastle United)
- Moises Caicedo (Chelsea)
- Liam Delap (Ipswich Town)
- Flynn Downes (Southampton)
- Ryan Christie (Bournemouth)
A further five players have accumulated eight yellow cards so far. They are:
- Sam Morsy (Ipswich Town)
- Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)
- Tomas Soucek (West Ham United)
- Boubakary Soumare (Leicester City)
- Manuel Ugarte (Manchester United)
A further 14 Premier League players are on seven yellow cards.
Which team has the most yellow cards?
Chelsea are the team who have received the most yellow cards this season, with 75 bookings picked up in their first 27 matches.
Southampton are next on the list with 74 yellow cards, while fellow relegation-zone sides Ipswich Town (66) and Leicester City (62) are also in the top five of teams with the most yellow cards.
Bournemouth (68) and Manchester United (62) are also among the most-booked clubs in the division.
