‘Special’: Tim Sherwood says Arsenal have a player who’s better than Cole Palmer right now

Arsenal have had a rough run of form as of late.

Indeed, Arsenal’s title hopes have gone up in smoke in recent weeks after they dropped points to both West Ham United and Nottingham Forest.

The title race is over according to some, but it hasn’t all been doom and gloom at Arsenal.

Arsenal haven’t been at their best recently, but some of their players have been brilliant as of late.

Martin Odegaard was praised this week after Arsenal’s win vs PSV, while Ethan Nwaneri has been making headlines in recent weeks.

Nwaneri has been brilliant for Arsenal as of late, and speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has made quite the claim about the teenager.

Tim Sherwood says Ethan Nwaneri has been better than Cole Palmer

Sherwood spoke about Nwaneri and his chances of getting an England call-up next week.

Sherwood claimed that Nwaneri may be England’s best right-sided option at the moment, claiming that, at the moment, he’s playing better than both Cole Palmer and Jarrod Bowen.

“Is he our best without Saka? Without Saka is he our best right-sided player at the moment?” Sherwood asked.

“You’d have to say even with all of the quality there is, he’s playing better than Cole Palmer at the moment. I love Cole Palmer, he’s a gamechanger, but he’s certainly there.

“Would you put him in ahead of Jarrod Bowen?” Sherwood was asked.

“I probably would, I like Jarrod, but this boy is special, Jarrod is an excellent Premier League player, but I think this boy has something a bit special, for me he is a superstar in the making,” Sherwood said.

Thomas Tuchel has a big decision to make next week when he picks his England team.

Of course, Bowen and Palmer are much more proven than Nwaneri at the highest level, but over the past few weeks, it’s Nwaneri who has stood out.

Indeed, it’s not an exaggeration to say that Nwaneri has been Arsenal’s best player during this period, and he has outperformed the likes of Bowen and Palmer.

Of course, this isn’t the biggest sample size, and that’s something that Tuchel will have to keep in mind, but if you’re picking your squad purely based on recent form, it’s hard to leave Nwaneri out.

This young man has a bright future ahead of him, and even if he isn’t picked this time, it surely won’t be long before he’s an England international.
