Let’s just say they are both great, okay?

Over the past week, one of the biggest controversies surrounding Bayern Munich has developed around club legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge saying that Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz is the top player in Germany.

Fans debated the topic and Lothar Matthäus chimed in to say that Rummenigge might have inadvertently insulted his own player, Jamal Musiala.

With Wirtz having an abysmal performance during Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Musiala being sensational for the Bavarians, it was only natural that the Bayern Munich star was asked about Rummenigge’s statements after the match.

“I haven’t seen that,” said Musiala (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Everyone has their own opinion. For me, the focus is only on doing my job, making steps forward and doing my best on the pitch.”

It seems…unlikely that Musiala escaped all of the noise, but he played his cards right in the media with how he addressed it. As for where things stand between Wirtz or Musiala when it comes to playing for Bayern Munich…why not both?
