Liverpool moved 16 points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League table by beating Southampton this weekend, so things are going pretty smoothly for Arne Slot’s side.
Come the summer, though, there is an expectation that the Reds will dip into the market and be active. Liverpool might be the league champion by then but that doesn’t mean it can’t further improve and get even better.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. We start with a name who is becoming more and more familiar with the gossip columns are speculation mounts regarding his future.
Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth)
Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is being targeted by Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window, according to GiveMeSport. It claims that the Reds will have to pay around $52m (£40m/€48m) for the Hungarian.
Kerkez has been in very impressive form so far this season and Liverpool might need a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson when the season comes to a close. Kostas Tsimikas started against Southampton this weekend but was taken off at half-time.
The new Liverpool home shirt for the 2024/2025 season features a chrome yellow pattern design and is a modern take on the legendary ’84 home shirt – a season which saw the Reds become European Champions for the fourth time in Rome and the first English Club to win a treble of major honours. While Liverpool would be spending a substantial sum on Kerkez, and he wouldn’t come cheap as the full-back is both young and experienced in the Premier League. At 21, his best years are firmly ahead of him.
Liverpool.com says: Left-back should definitely be a priority for the Reds in the summer. Arne Slot doesn’t have many positions in which an upgrade would be attainable, but that feels like one of them.
Roger Fernandes (Braga)
Liverpool is among a raft of Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Portugal wonderkid Roger Fernandes from Braga in the summer, according to TBR Football. The Reds have supposedly scouted him “extensively” across the course of the last 12 months.
The teenage winger has scored five times and assisted another five in 44 appearances so far this season. He is under contract until 2028 but has a release clause worth $42m (£34m/€40m) written into that deal.
Liverpool.com says: This very much feels like the type of player that Liverpool would let move elsewhere first to continue his development. It could then make a move in the future when the forward’s development has been undertaken elsewhere.
