Tottenham fans have been urging Ange Postecoglou to build the team around one of Tottenham Hotspur’s key players who ‘changed the game’ against Bournemouth.
Tottenham Hotspur rescued a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth as they came from behind to secure a point in North London.
Ange Postecoglou’s side were well off the pace in the first-half, however, the manager’s quartet of substitutions just after the hour mark helped swing the game into Tottenham’s favour.
After the draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs supporters took to social media to react to the performance of one of their top performers.
Tottenham fans laud Lucas Bergvall’s impact vs Bournemouth
Tottenham supporters believe that Lucas Bergvall should be one of the first names on Ange Postecoglou’s teamsheet after his impact against Bournemouth.
Bergvall, who cost Tottenham £9m, was subbed on during the interval and had quite an impact on Spurs’ performance.
The teenager brought an urgency to the Lilywhites midfield as he looked to progress the ball forward, something which they missed in the first 45 minutes.
Postecoglou’s midfield selection against Bournemouth was questionable as the trio of Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr proved devoid of creativity.
Bergvall changed that and the North London club’s fans have been calling on X for the Australian manager to build the team around the young Swede.
One fan said: “However you feel about today is how you feel Bergvall is at a different level. What a player! He came on and changed the game. Showing Bissouma and Sarr levels.”
Another claimed: “Bergvall is the first name on the team sheet in that midfield. James Maddison has to play alongside him as well.”
There was yet more praise for Bergvall’s positivity: “You can hear the whole stadium groan when we try to transition, then Bergvall comes on, demands the ball and tries to carry us up the pitch.”
Ange Postecoglou on Lucas Bergvall’s big impact vs Bournemouth
Postecoglou has also hailed the impact of Bergvall against the Cherries and agrees with supporters who claim he is becoming a key player.
Speaking after the match, Postecoglou told the media: “Yeah, Lucas was great. He has been great but he has played a lot and we’ve just got to be mindful of that.
“He’s becoming an important part of our team. I thought he made a real big impact when he came on. Like I said we were sloppy when we were on the ball in the first half and he’s one who takes a bit more care with it.
“He’s a technician and he carries the ball really well. I thought he and Sonny made a really good impact when they came on.”
