Exclusive: Premier League club now trying to tie manager Tottenham admire down to new contract, wary of exit

4 Min Read

TBR Football understand Crystal Palace are attempting to tie Oliver Glasner – who Tottenham admire – down to a new contract.

The Austrian has done a tremendous job at Selhurst Park this season, bouncing back from just one win in the first nine Premier League outings to sit above Spurs and Manchester United on 39 points.

Only Liverpool – with 25 – have won more Premier League points in 2025 than Crystal Palace’s 19.

The man from Salzburg also guided the Eagles to the Carabao Cup quarter-final, and has an FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham coming up on Saturday 29th March.

As Crystal Palace attempt to tie Oliver Glasner down to a new deal, sources have shared further information with TBR Football.

Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund admire Oliver Glasner as Crystal Palace discuss new contract

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – has now been told Crystal Palace want to reward Glasner for his excellent work since replacing Roy Hodgson in February 2024.

The 50-year-old is happy in SE25 and understands Steve Parish stuck by him amidst a terrible start to the season.

However, we are aware Glasner wants assurances that Crystal Palace are keen to build on the current squad, and become a side who consistently aim for the top eight.

However, a return to Germany could also occur, with Borussia Dortmund fans.

Furthermore, Bayer Leverkusen could lose Xabi Alonso this summer, and TBR Football are aware that Glasner – who Bayern Munich approached in 2024 – features on their shortlist of potential replacements for the Spaniard.

Oliver Glasner has already praised five Tottenham players

If Tottenham opt to sack Postecoglou and target the Crystal Palace boss, Glasner has already expressed his admiration for five players at Spurs.

Speaking ahead of Crystal Palace 1-0 Tottenham back in October, he said: “(Tottenham will bring) intensity, runs, pace, high quality. I just heard that maybe Son is not available but, you know, they’ve bought Solanke, a top striker of the Premier League.

“They have Brennan Johnson. He’s in great shape, a lot of pace. They have Kulusevski. Richarlison had his comeback (against Alkmaar). They have Timo Werner. They have a very good midfield, they have a lot of pace in defence, so it’s all about intensity.”
