Exclusive: What Levy has done with Ange Postecoglou recently as Tottenham’s ‘minimum requirement’ shared

3 Min Read

TBR Football understands that Daniel Levy has informed Ange Postecgolou that securing European football for next term is seen as a minimum requirement this season.

Daniel Levy has met with Postecoglou in recent weeks to inform the Spurs manager of the club’s position over what they expect from him in the final stages of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 2-0 at Craven Cottage as the North London club suffered a 15th Premier League defeat of the season, the highest number since the 2008/09 season.

The defeat in West London leaves them 14th in the Premier League but Spurs are remaining pretty quiet as to their stance over the future of Postecoglou.

Tottenham’s stance over sacking Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham are aware that sacking Ange Postecoglou now would not speed up their chances of landing one of their top managerial targets, sources have told Graeme Bailey – chief correspondent at TBR Football.

TBR Football has previously revealed that Thoms Frank and Andoni Iraola are two contenders for the Tottenham job should the club eventually decide to move on from Postecoglou.

Frank’s £9 million release clause is putting Tottenham off, meanwhile, Marco Silva’s £6 million release clause is deterring them from moving for him too, with the Portugese coach also being linked with the job at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The North London club’s progress in the Europa League is another factor keeping the 59-year-old in the job for the immediate term future.

The Lilywhites face a tough quarter-final clash against Eintracht Frankfurt with that now seemingly being their best route back into Europe for next season.

Failure to qualify for Europe next term could be pivotal in deciding Postecoglou’s future and as mentioned, he has been made aware of that stance by the chairman.

Could Andoni Iraola be the man to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

TBR Football can reveal that Andoni Ireola’s people are making it known that he does have an interest in taking the Tottenham job.

Bournemouth had been hoping to renew Iraola’s contract, however, the 42-year-old has so far put off talks with the Cherries.

Real Madrid have been impressed by his work, but TBR Football has been told the Spaniard won’t be considered as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, as it is seen as too early for him.
