‘Have a look’: Harry Redknapp shares what he privately thinks about Daniel Levy after Tottenham fans protest

4 Min Read

Daniel Levy has come under a lot of criticism from Tottenham Hotspur fans this season.

Spurs have had a shocking campaign so far. They crashed out of both domestic cups and are currently 14th in the Premier League table. They are still alive in the Europa League, but several fans are sceptical about their side’s chances.

Ange Postecoglou is partly to blame, but Levy is the one who has to answer a lot of questions about the way he has run the club over the years.

But, there are many people in the industry who are in support of Levy, despite all the fan protests.

Harry Redknapp delivers verdict on Daniel Levy at Tottenham

Tottenham have not won any silverware since 2008.

That is simply not good enough for a club of that size, and the only one who can be blamed for that is Levy, who has been calling the shots.

The 63-year-old is the one who appoints and sacks managers, and he often has a big say over which players sign for the club as well.

Clearly, his decisions have not worked out, but Harry Redknapp, who was once sacked by Levy, has jumped into his former boss’ defence.

The former Spurs manager has suggested that fans urging Levy to spend more are wrong because the Tottenham chairman has done that over the years.

Redknapp said, as per HaytersTV: “He’s done a fantastic job. What can they do? They’ve spent money, he’s built a fantastic stadium, incredible training ground, it’s all there.

“They’ve spent money on the team. They’ve gone out and spent. Have a look, they’ve all been bought. They’re all big-money players. Solanke was £60 million. They’ve spent money. Unfortunately it’s not worked out for them.

“The recruitment maybe hasn’t been great in certain cases but they’ve still got a squad there really that should be challenging. I looked at their squad at the start of the year and said they are certain to finish top four.

“They’ve had injuries and they’re nowhere near top four unfortunately but winning this cup (Europa League) would hide a multitude of sins really if they could do it.”

Daniel Levy has sent a clear message to Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Tottenham fans cannot be blamed for criticising Levy – they have every right to.

The Spurs chairman has got a lot of on-pitch decisions wrong, and although he deserves enormous praise for the work he has done on the business side, the lack of trophies is not good enough.

But, at this moment in time, the focus is on the manager for not delivering, and TBR Football exclusively revealed that Levy has sent a clear message to Ange Postecoglou.

We can confirm that Levy met with Postecoglou recently and told him that European football next season is the minimum requirement.

The only way Spurs can achieve that is by winning the Europa League, but if they play like they did against Fulham, Eintracht Frankfurt will beat them in the quarter-final.
