Fighting across different promotions, Meerschaert won 7 fights in a row, to take his record to 15 wins and 4 losses. And, most of his wins were via. submission.

On the 9th of December, 2016, Meerschaert made his UFC debut. He took on Joe Gigliotti at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs Abdurakhimov, and won via. submission due to an anaconda choke. At UFC 213, Meerschaert suffered his first-ever knockout loss at the hands of Thiago Santos.

He then bounced back with two back-to-back wins before going on a two-fight skid.

The last six fights have been kind of rough for the submission artist. He has won just three of those. 2 of his 3 defeats have been quite brutal, especially the knockout loss against Khamzat Chimaev in September, 2020.

On the 17th of April, 2021, Meerschaert became the fighter with the most submissions in the history of the middleweight division with 6 submission wins to his name, after beating Bartosz Fabinski in the first-round.

He then faced the rising star Makhmud Muradov at UFC Vegas 35 and got an impressive win via rear naked choke. In 2025, his first fight is against Brad Tavares at UFC on ESPN 65.
