Don’t call it a comeback…

On a day where German outlets have been at the mercy of the fickle mind of national team boss Julian Nagelsmann, Bild is going to roll the dice with this report.

Per Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), Nagelsmann has selected Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka and VfB Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller (a former Bayern Munich academy player) to start in the central midfield against Italy in the UEFA Nations League quarterfinal match on Thursday:

This is a massive step for Goretzka (and Stiller, too), who was an afterthought at Bayern Munich and with Germany at the start of this season. Now, the 30-year-old appears to have fought his way all the way back for both teams.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Robert Andrich and Borussia Dortmund’s Pascal Groß were expected by many to get the starting positions under Nagelsmann vs. Italy.
