TBR Football understand Newcastle have now joined the race to sign Spain international Yeremy Pino from Villarreal.
The Magpies are currently on a high after winning the Carabao Cup – their first major domestic trophy since 1955 – and will be eager to kick on under Eddie Howe with reinforcements this summer.
Keeping Alexander Isak – a target for Arsenal – on Tyneside will be the most important task after his stunning 2024/25 campaign so far, and improvements to the squad may help entice the Swede to stay.
Now, TBR Football have learned that Newcastle are keen to sign Yeremy Pino as Howe aims to continue taking the Magpies forward.
Newcastle want Yeremy Pino
Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – has now been told that Newcastle are doing work on a deal to sign the Spain international.
Pino – who Newcastle scouted in September – has impressed on the right wing for Villarreal so far this season, providing five assists across 24 appearances in La Liga, more than Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski.
Howe is eager to sign a winger to play on the right flank after allowing Miguel Almiron to depart in January. Newcastle are particularly strong on the left flank with Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes to choose from, but there is a distinct lack of quality on the other side.
TBR Football understand Newcastle are set to sign Antonio Cordero from Malaga – although he is viewed as one for the future, whereas Pino would be expected to shine immediately.
However, Newcastle are not the only side keen to sign the Villarreal No.21 this summer.
Arsenal have previously scouted Pino and remain interested in the Spaniard.

Furthermore, TBR Football are aware that Aston Villa are keeping a close eye on Villarreal with several players of interest to Unai Emery, such as Alex Baena and Juan Foyth, in addition to Pino.
The Villarreal star is believed to have a release clause worth €80m (£67m).
Yeremy Pino has been compared to Jadon Sancho
The 22-year-old is still a young, relatively unknown talent across Europe, so a comparison to a household name may help provide an understanding over the type of footballer he is.
Interestingly, a detailed report by The Scouting App likens Pino to Jadon Sancho, mentioning the pair are similar in regards to their close control and dribbling ability, as well as their vision to spot an incisive pass.
