Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool have three of the greatest goalkeepers in the world in Emiliano Martinez, David Raya and Alisson Becker.
The Aston Villa stopper has gone from strength to strength since moving to B6 from Arsenal, shining for club and country over the past few years.
Raya has also impressed at Arsenal since his move from Brentford, while Liverpool’s Alisson has been one of the best keepers in the world for a number of years now.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has now shared which of the four goalkeepers he thinks is the best, with a particular focus on one-v-one saves.

Dominic Solanke rates Emi Martinez over Alisson and David Raya
Solanke, speaking on Sky Sports Premier League, was asked which of the four stoppers he found the most difficult to play against.
The Tottenham man initially shortlisted Alisson and Martinez, before opting for the Villa man because of the “crazy saves” he pulls.
“Number one, it’s tough between Allison and Martinez… I’d probably say Martinez is number one. Just the fact that he makes some crazy saves.
“Few times I’ve played against him and I thought ‘I’ve scored’, the ball was coming from across, and he’s just made the craziest save, and it’s like ‘damn’.
“He’s made some crazy saves, not just against me but just in his time as well, so he’s a great keeper – yeah it was tough between these two.”
Solanke then praised Alisson and shared what he was like in training from when they were both at Liverpool.
“Alisson’s great goalkeeper as well, knew him from my time at Liverpool as well,” said the Spurs man.
When asked about what the Reds keeper is like in training, Solanke said: “Je’s really good, great guy as well.
“But yeah, when you see it every day, like the saves he plays, like his confidence on the ball and stuff, he’s obviously a world class keeper.
In last place, he opted for the Arsenal keeper, saying: “That leaves me with Raya.”
Alisson suffered a concussion injury in Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia and is now returning to Liverpool.
Emiliano Martinez, David Raya and Alisson stats this season
All three goalkeepers have impressed this season, with Martinez especially impressive considering how many more shots on target he has had to deal with.
Nevertheless, Alisson and Raya have conceded an average of less than a goal a game and boast save percentages in the 70s.
Player | Squad | Appearances | Minutes | Goals conceded | Goals conceded per 90 | Shots on target against | Saves | Save % | Wins | Draws | Losses | Clean sheets | Clean sheet % |
Emiliano Martinez | Aston Villa | 28 | 2,430 | 41 | 1.52 | 111 | 69 | 64 | 11 | 9 | 8 | 3 | 10.7 |
David Raya | Arsenal | 29 | 2,610 | 24 | 0.83 | 95 | 71 | 76.8 | 16 | 10 | 3 | 11 | 37.9 |
Alisson | Liverpool | 21 | 1,878 | 18 | 0.86 | 64 | 46 | 71.9 | 15 | 5 | 1 | 8 | 38.1 |
All three clubs are doing very well indeed this season, which goes to show how important it is to have a great goalkeeper in between the sticks.
