Federico Chiesa’s father has broken his silence regarding rumours his son could leave Liverpool.
Chiesa has only made two starts and 11 appearances for Liverpool since completing a £12.5million transfer to the Reds from Juventus last summer.
Indeed, the Italy international’s limited playing time has led to speculation he may look to move this summer.
However, Chiesa’s father, Enrico told Tuttosport that his son was “very happy” at Liverpool and had “no regrets” about leaving Juventus.
“Federico is doing great in Liverpool”, Enrico said. “He is in a top club that is first in the league and now we hope he wins the Premier League!
“He is there to play his cards, he has a great chance. This summer I told him what I have been telling him since he was little.
“Because, in reality, until he was 15 he didn’t play often and when he asked me, ‘What should I do?’, I told him to keep training, not to give up, to be ready when his time comes’”.
Since being the breakout star of Italy’s European Championship triumph four years ago, Chiesa has been plagued by injuries at Juventus and Liverpool.
Despite Chiesa struggling for game time in recent months, having wracked up just 25 minutes of Premier League football the entire season, he netted his side’s consolation goal in the Carabao Cup final as Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley.

Elsewhere, Enrico insisted that his son had no regrets regarding his Juventus exit.
“Regrets are the alibis of the defeated”, Enrico said. “No, no regrets”.
Chiesa was Liverpool’s sole fit senior outfield player not called up for international duty in March. That provided the attacker with the chance to return to his native Italy.
On Sunday, Chiesa shared an Instagram image of himself training in a Liverpool kit under the Dolomites.
