Man United ‘facing competition’ from two major clubs for Victor Osimhen but Red Devils ‘hold trump card’

4 Min Read

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly battling Manchester United for the signature of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, with the Nigerian set to be on the move during this summer’s transfer window.

Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 26 times and registering five assists in 30 appearances for the Turkish giants, but he is set to return to his parent club at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Galatasaray chief Abdullah Kavukcu recently suggested that his team could sign the Nigeria international on a permanent basis this summer, but it will be difficult for the Istanbul giants to complete a deal.

Man United are currently being heavily linked with Osimhen, who will allegedly have a £62m release clause in his contract for foreign clubs during this summer’s transfer window.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of a new number nine, and Osimhen is one of the most lethal finishes in world football, also managing 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli all competitions.

Juventus, PSG ‘battling Man United’ for Osimhen

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, two of Europe’s biggest clubs are also in the mix for his signature, with Juventus and PSG both keeping a close eye on his situation.

The report claims that the Old Lady are in the market for a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, who is expected to be on the move this summer, while PSG are also searching for a new centre-forward.

Luis Enrique‘s side were outstanding in their recent Champions League last-16 success over Liverpool, with the Paris giants now viewed as genuine contenders to win the European Cup this season.

However, the bulk of the team’s goals this season have come from their wide players, with Ousmane Dembele having a remarkable campaign, scoring 30 times in all competitions, while Bradley Barcola has 18.

How can Man United win the race for Osimhen?

PSG and Juventus are both expecting to be in the Champions League next season, but that will only be the case for Man United if the Red Devils are able to win the Europa League.

Man United do have some advantages in the battle for his signature, though, as it has long been suggested that Osimhen is keen to make the move to the Premier League.

The Red Devils also have a trump card in the shape of Rasmus Hojlund, who is believed to be firmly on Napoli’s radar, with the Denmark international potentially being used as part of a swap deal.

Hojlund has found it difficult to make his mark this season, only scoring three times in the Premier League, but he did register against Leicester City last weekend and then struck the winner for Denmark against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday night.
