‘I’m sure’: Gabriel Agbonlahor says £20m striker would be better than Kai Havertz if he signed for Arsenal

Arsenal really need to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, Arsenal have been looking for a new centre-forward for an eternity at this point, and fans are starting to get frustrated by this whole situation.

The summer transfer window is just around the corner, and some top strikers will be on the market at the end of the season.

Viktor Gyokeres could move this summer, while Benjamin Sesko has been strongly linked to Arsenal.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Gabriel Agbonlahor has been discussing another striker who could move this summer – Liam Delap.

Delap has been linked to Chelsea after a strong campaign with Ipswich Town, and according to the pundit, the English striker could be a decent option for Arsenal.

Liam Delap would be better than Kai Havertz for Arsenal

Agbonlahor made a claim about the £20m striker after being asked about a potential move to Arsenal.

The pundit claimed that Delap would do a better job than Kai Havertz if he was Arsenal’s number nine, while he also thinks he could be a useful signing for Liverpool or Tottenham too.

“Would Tottenham take a punt? Would Arsenal?” Agbonlahor was asked.

“Liverpool? Is he good enough for Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs. I just think sometimes you need the love of a manager and that trust,” Agbonlahor said.

“I’m sure Delap would do a better job that Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Nunez at Liverpool. He’d do a better job than Richarlison.”

Agbonlahor makes an interesting point here, and, based on what we’ve seen this season, it’s hard to disagree.

Indeed, while Havertz has been praised for his performances at times this season, Delap does appear to be a more natural goalscorer.

Delap has outscored Havertz this season, despite the fact he’s been playing in a team that creates so many fewer chances.

With all due respect, Ipswich Town haven’t played the best football this season, but Delap has still found a way to get amongst the goals.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are a much more ball-dominant and attacking team, but Havertz hasn’t been able to turn that dominance into goals often enough.

Delap looks like he’s ready for a move to a top club, and Arsenal could do a lot worse than signing the young Ipswich ace this summer.
