Victor Osimhen is the best suited ST available for Chelsea right now – opinion

I’ve seen the light people. I’ve never been fully convinced by Victor Osimhen and in all honesty, I will still recognise his flaws and have some concerns there.

However, for how Chelsea play, Victor Osimhen should be our priority striker target for the summer. I don’t say that lightly either.

People know I am a huge fan of Viktor Gyokeres and I also rate and see a big future for Liam Delap. I’d not be at all annoyed if we signed either of those players.

But when you watch how Chelsea player under Enzo Maresca and the amount of crosses that come in from wide positions, then you can only pick Osimhen as our best option to have in the box.

We need a box striker and a target, and Osimhen is both of those. We need a strong and prolific goalscorer, Osimhen is that. We need a physical and experienced guy up top as our focal point, Osimhen is that.

When you go through everything we need, Osimhen really does tick all the boxes and to add to all of that, he has a super strong and winning mentality as well as bags of experience playing regularly at international level as well as the Champions League.

Delap is strong at receiving long balls in the air, I saw him bully Tosin Adarabioyo recently by doing just that, and I think he will get much better as well at scoring headers.

Gyokeres does not have the same aerial threat as Osimhen or Delap, nowhere near Osimhen. Delap is also a physical specimen.

So the fact that we spam crosses and need someone in the box to help unlock low blocks, Osimhen is your guy.

Can Chelsea sign him still? Well, they came VERY close to signing him last summer. So they wouldn’t do all of that if they didn’t know what wages he wanted. In the end, the overall price to sign him was just going to be too much, but Chelsea went a long way in that deal. They must know all the figures needed and if his wage demands are that high then surely they wouldn’t have even entered the talks? I don’t know. But John Obi Mikel appears to believe it is easy for Chelsea to spark up the move again and get it on, and he would have direct information about what happened here both from Osimhen and the club.

We will see. I can’t see it because I believe the figures involved will just still be too much. And I know we are already working on signing Liam Delap before the Club World Cup. Yes, I did hear we could get two strikers, but Delap AND Osimhen, I cannot see it in the slightest, sorry.
