Manager Tottenham chose Ange Postecoglou instead of is now on the verge of undefeated title win, 21 points clear

Tottenham had several managers on their list after choosing to sack Antonio Conte in March 2023.

The likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Frank and Luis Enrique were all mentioned as potential hires by Daniel Levy before Ange Postecoglou was eventually given the nod, after the Australian had just earned a nomination for FIFA World Coach of the Year for winning a domestic treble at Celtic.

Despite a bright start, the 59-year-old is now struggling at Tottenham, who sit 14th in the Premier League and crashed out of the FA Cup at the second hurdle.

In stark contrast, one of those aforementioned managers is now on the brink of winning the league title – without losing a single game.

Luis Enrique shining after Tottenham chose Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham hired Postecoglou instead of Enrique due to the fact Levy felt the makeup of the Spurs squad suited the man born in Nea Filadelfeia better.

The Spaniard was later hired by PSG in July 2023 – a month after Spurs opted for the Australian instead – and he has since worked wonders with the French giants.

Enrique won a Ligue 1 and Coupe de France double in his first season with PSG last term, but has taken the Parisians to another level in the current campaign.

The 54-year-old is remarkably one win away from securing the Ligue 1 title, despite the fact March is yet to end. It even could have happened on Saturday had Monaco drawn against OGC Nice, but they managed to snatch a 2-1 win to keep the title race alive, mathematically at least

Enrique has his PSG side sitting 21 points clear of Monaco, while they are also among the favourites to win the UEFA Champions League after dismantling Premier League leaders Liverpool in the Round of 16.

Desire Doue – who Tottenham wanted – is helping Luis Enrique fire PSG to glory

In an alternate universe, Desire Doue is working under Enrique in north London rather than Paris.

Tottenham wanted to sign Doue from Rennes before his £42m move to the Parc des Princes, and the France international is playing a key role this season with nine goals and 11 assists across all competitions.
