A recap of the last four weeks and a look at where each team sits going into the final weeks of the European seasons.

It has been awhile, but we are back with another edition of Bavarian Football Works. Although I was away travelling, the Bayern Munich loanees remained busy as ever as most of their seasons begin to wind down and races for championships, promotion, European qualification, and even relegation heat up. This edition will contain a little less detail on individual performances and will mostly catch you up on the last 3-4 weeks of results and then where each of the loanee’s teams are in their respective leagues.

FC Bayern Munich

There are eleven players on loan from the first team.

Germany – Bundesliga

There are four players on loan in the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Franz Krätzig, Paul Wanner, and Armando Sieb.

Alexander Nübel – VfB Stuttgart

Nübel and Stuttgart are winless in the last five matches. Nübel continues to start in goal for Stuttgart. On March 8, they drew 2-2 at Hoffenheim, lost 4-3 Leverkusen (after leading at home late), and then lost yesterday at Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0. Stuttgart sits in 11th place after 27 matches.

Nübel also travelled with the German national team for their two matches against Italy, but he did not play in either match.

Stuttgart will host RB Leipzig on Wednesday in the DFB-Pokal. They will travel to face Bochum in league play on Saturday.

Franz Krätzig – 1.FC Heidenheim

In the past four weeks, Krätzig started twice for Heidenheim, and was on the bench once for the match against Hoffenheim. He played 90 minutes against Holstein Kiel and recorded an assist in a 3-1 win. He played 78 minutes in the 1-0 win on Saturday at Wolfsburg.

Paul Wanner – 1.FC Heidenheim

Wanner made two appearances for Heidenheim — 20 minutes in the Hoffenheim draw and 12 minutes in the win against Wolfsburg. He was not even on the bench for the match against Holstein Kiel.

After sitting in dead last, Heidenheim is finally picking up points and are currently in 15th place with 22 points. They are three points behind St. Pauli in the last safe spot and just two points above Bochum in the automatic relegation spot.

Heidenheim will host Leverkusen on Saturday.

Armindo Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05

Sieb has only played five minutes for Mainz this entire month. He made just three minutes in a 3-1 road win against Monchengladbach and two minutes in Sunday’s 3-1 loss against BVB Dortmund. He was on the bench, but did not make it into a 2-2 draw against Freiburg on March 15. He did not statistically impact either of the matches.

Mainz sits in fourth place with 45 points. They sit three points behind Frankfurt and two points ahead of Gladbach for the last Champions League spot.

Mainz will host Holstein Kiel on Saturday.

England – Premier League

Mathys Tel is the only player on loan to England’s Premier League

Mathys Tel – Tottenham Hotspur

Tel has had limited playing time in the last weeks. He played the second half of the first leg of their Europa League knockout matchup against AZ Alkmaar, in which Spurs lost 1-0 in the Netherlands. He was on the bench for a 2-2 draw against AFC Bournemouth and the 3-1 win return leg against Alkmaar, but did not make it into the match in either match. He returned to the starting lineup against Fulham and he played 77 minutes in their 2-0 loss. Spurs have not played since March 16.

Tottenham sits in 14th place of the Premier League table with 34 points. They are clear from the relegation zone by 17 points with nine matches left, so they are fairly safe. They are also in the Quarter-final of the Europa League and will face Eintracht Frankfurt over two legs next month.

Spurs travel crosstown to South London to face Chelsea on Thursday. They will also host Southampton on Sunday.

Spain – LaLiga

There are two players on loan to Spain’s La Liga: Bryan Zaragoza and Adam Anzou

He went 71 minutes in a 2-1 loss, 90 minutes against Celta Viga in a 1-0 loss, and 90 minutes this weekend against Real Sociedad in a 2-1 loss. Lazio sits in seventh place with 51 points. They are one point out of the Conference League space, four points away from Europa League qualification, and five points away from a return to the Champions League. They can also still qualify by winning the Europa League. They are in the quarter-finals against Bod0/Glint in April.

Lazio hosts Torino on Monday and then will travel to face Atalanta on Sunday — both in league play.

Lovro Zvonarek – Sturm Graz

Zvonarek has not played for Sturm Graz since March 2. In the three matches since, they won two matches and drew one.

Sturm Graz finished the first part of the season in first place with 46 points — level with Austria Wien. Schweinfurt will host SpVgg Ansbach on Saturday.

Türkgücü München sits in last place. They are five points out from the playoff spots and 13 points out of guaranteed safety.

Türkgücü München will travel to face Hankofen-Hailing on Tuesday. They will also host Bayreuth on Saturday.

Luka Parkadze – Altglienicke

Altglienicke is undefeated in March and is climbing in the table. Parkadze has proven to be a hero a few times. In the Berlin cup he scored a goal against a much lower division team to go up 2-0 late, but somehow they scored twice in stoppage time to force extra time, then Spandau took the lead. Parkadze has to score again to force penalties. He ended up scoring the fifth and deciding penalty when he stepped in. He followed up his performance with another goal the next week against Hertha Berlin II.

Robert Deziel Jr – Altglienicke

Deziel Jr continues to be a quiet contributor on defense, starting each match as Altglienicke has an amazing month of March.

Even with the amazing month, Altglienicke only find themselves in eighth place in the Regionalliga Nordost table. They are also still alive in the Berliner Pokal.

Altglienicke will travel to face fellow Berlin team, BFC Dynamo on Saturday in league play.

Yousef Qashi – Wuppertaler SV

He also started and played the full match this weekend in another draw against 1. FC Bocholt.

Austria Wien ended the regular season level on points with Sturm Graz before they split the teams into the top and bottom six and halved the points. Their 2-0 win this weekend put them two points ahead of Sturm Graz, who only drew in their first week of the Championship Group.

Austria Wien will host Hartberg on Wednesday in the Austrian Cup. They will also host Wolfsberger AC on Sunday in league play

Grayson Dettoni – Grasshopper Club Zurich

Of the matches above, Dettoni was only on the bench for the match against Sion, but did not make it onto the pitch.

Grasshopper sit in 11th place with four matches until the Swiss league splits like Austria does. They will be playing the Relegation group and will have to fight to stay up once that split takes place.

Grasshopper will travel to take on Basel on Sunday.

FC Bayern Frauen

There are five players on loan from FC Bayern’s Frauen team.

Germany — Frauen-Bundesliga

Karólína Lea Vilhjálmsdóttir is the only player on loan in the Frauen-Bundesliga.

This weekend, she came off the bench in a 2-1 road win over Kerr’s Liverpool. After missing the first half of the season, it is good to see her get consistent playing time.

Aston Villa’s next match is April 20 against Tottenham.

Sam Kerr – Liverpool

Kerr started against Manchester United and Arsenal going 90 minutes in back to back matches. Liverpool beat United 3-1 and Kerr had her first assist of the season, before getting beat 4-0 by the formidable Arsenal. She was on the bench against Aston Villa, but did not get to play against her fellow loanee.

Liverpool sit in sixth place with 21 points. They should be plenty safe from relegation, but are 21 points out of third place and Champions League qualification

Inter will host Roma on April 19.

USA – NWSL

Ana María Guzmán is the only player on loan to the NWSL.

Ana María Guzmán – Utah Royals FC

The Royals are three matches into their season, but unfortunately Guzmán has had a thigh injury that has prevented her from making her NWSL debut. She was not called into the Colombian national team for this window, so hopefully she can rest and get fit for a debut after the break.

Very early in their season, the Utah Royals only have one point after a home draw and two road losses.

After the international break, the Royals will look for their first win — and hopefully a Guzmán debut — on April 11th against the Portland Thorns.
