‘Recommended to Arteta’: Andrea Berta has told Arsenal to look at striker who’s similar to Fernando Torres

4 Min Read

Andrea Berta is officially Arsenal’s new Sporting Director, and he’s not wasting any time in getting to work at the Emirates.

Indeed, Berta has already eyed up a few signings for Arsenal this summer.

Berta is a big fan of Matheus Cunha, while Berta is keen on Pablo Barrios from his former club, Atletico Madrid.

Interestingly, Barrios isn’t the only Atletico Madrid player that Berta is keen on.

According to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1 TV, Berta has also recommended the signing of Adrian Nino to Mikel Arteta.

Nino is a 20-year-old striker for Atletico Madrid B who Berta seemingly rates very highly.

Arsenal told to sign Adrian Nino

Kay shared what he’s been told about Nino and Arsenal.

According to the journalist, Nino has been compared to Fernando Torres, Antoine Griezmann and Sergio Aguero.

The reporter notes that Berta has recommended Nino to Mikel Arteta.

“Arsenal monitoring, Atletico Madrid’s Adrian Nino?” Kay was asked.

“Yeah, he’s one of these players I’ve been told Arsenal are watching. He plays for Atletico B. He’s in the mould of, people have mentioned, Fernando Torres, Griezmann, Aguero. I spoke to a guy, I actually had to speak to him in Spanish.

“Yeah, he’s highly-rated, Arsenal are interested in him and are keeping an eye on him. Berta brought him in and he was integral to bringing him to the club. He’s in the Torres mould. Powerful, quick thinking, silky skills clever. Watch him because we have Berta coming in.

“This is one I’ve been told has been recommended to Mikel Arteta.”

Atletico Madrid’s top academy products

Arsenal could look to sign Nino from Atletico Madrid, and signing a top academy product from the Metropolitano is not a bad idea at all.

Indeed, Atletico have produced some incredible players over the years, and Berta will know who the top stars are from the current crop of the academy.

David De Gea
Lucas Hernandez

Of course, on top of that, Atletico Madrid have a remarkable history of incredible strikers as well.

Putting two and two together, signing a striker academy product from Atletico Madrid does sound like a good idea, especially when they’re being compared to Fernando Torres.

Arsenal need a striker this summer, and while Nino wouldn’t be the answer to all of the Gunners’ prayers, he would be a good supplementary signing to go alongside another big name.

Arsenal want Alexander Isak this summer, while Ollie Watkins is also on Arsenal’s radar, but Nino could be a decent extra option alongside these marquee names.
