The man has a way of doing things.
Ever since he was appointed Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund has been hard at work getting used to a different environment. Given he was at RB Salzburg for a very long time, going to Bayern, where everything is bigger and better, was always going to require some time to adjust.
But Freund knows that, above all, it was important to bring his personal qualities into play. “It’s similar to Salzburg. I didn’t want to fundamentally change myself as a person either,” he said in a recent interview, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I want to get involved; I’m extremely passionate about football. I enjoy discussing football, trying to bring different areas together, understand people, and communicate a lot. I’m a contact person and I want to support people in their work. Connecting the Bayern Campus with the first team and Säbener Straße is important to me.”
Freund still has work to be done with that initiative. Can he help build the youth academy into a production line for prospects? That might determine Freund’s ultimate future with the club.
