Exclusive: What Oliver Glasner now wants from Crystal Palace as Tottenham and RB Leipzig lurk

4 Min Read

TBR Football have now received an update on Oliver Glasner’s situation at Crystal Palace – amid interest from Tottenham and RB Leipzig.

The Austrian has done a tremendous job with the Eagles ever since replacing Roy Hodgson in February 2024 – overseeing 24 wins and 12 draws from his 49 games in charge – with Crystal Palace also heading to Wembley in April after reaching the last four of the FA Cup.

Naturally, this success has generated interest from elsewhere. Crystal Palace have already lost Dougie Freedman to Saudi Arabia, so Steve Parish would be loathed to lose the man from Salzburg as well as his Director of Football.

Now, TBR Football can provide an update on Oliver Glasner for Crystal Palace fans – with Tottenham and RB Leipzig circling.

Oliver Glasner wants two things from Crystal Palace

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – has now been told what Parish must do in order to keep Glasner at Selhurst Park.

We understand the 50-year-old wants assurances from Crystal Palace that they will seriously try to push on and become regulars in the fight for European football.

Glasner has also told Crystal Palace to keep Adam Wharton for – at least – another 12 months, amid rising interest in the England international.

TBR Football understand Wharton is happy at Crystal Palace – although Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all keen to take him away from SE25.

Regarding Glasner, sources add that he is admired by Tottenham – amid doubts over the future of Ange Postecoglou in N17. Spurs currently sit 14th in the Premier League.

The Crystal Palace boss is also strongly liked by Jurgen Klopp – Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull – as the German looks to find a replacement for Marco Rose at RB Leipzig.

Bayer Leverkusen also have Glasner on their radar in case Xabi Alonso leaves this summer.

Nevertheless, Crystal Palace remain hopeful of agreeing a new contract with the Austrian, and think a clever hire in the Director of Football department will help to convince him.

Who could Crystal Palace hire to replace Dougie Freedman?

Parish already has a few names on his list of options to replace Freedman – who made a name for himself when bringing the likes of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise to south London.

TBR Football have been told Lee Dykes of Brentford is an option for Crystal Palace – a man who signed the impressive Bryan Mbeumo for just £5m.

Kieran Scott of Middlesbrough is another candidate for the vacancy, which will need filling ahead of a summer transfer window where Crystal Palace face a battle to keep Marc Guehi, Wharton and Eze.
