Arsenal are entering a new era as Andrea Berta prepares to start his role as the club’s new Sporting Director.
Berta has been appointed as Edu’s replacement at Arsenal after the Brazilian resigned earlier this year.
Edu is set to take up a role at Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal fans would be forgiven for not knowing too much about Berta. After all, he’s a background figure who’s spent most of his career to date in Spain.
Speaking to The Mirror, Sol Campbell has been discussing Berta’s arrival at Arsenal, and he says that he’s heard something interesting about the Sporting Director as he starts his role in north London.

What Sol Campbell has heard about Andrea Berta
Campbell shared what he’s heard about Berta.
The former defender says that he’s heard that Berta is a big fan of centre-forwards, claiming that he really likes number nines.
“I think he will have a different outlook to Arteta, a different viewpoint. It’s nice to have that. Apparently he’s more of a centre-forward leaning man, he loves centre-forwards and he wants forward-thinking players that can hurt you and do the business in the final thirds.
“Maybe his connections can open up some doors that were previously shut.”
Strikers signed by Andrea Berta
Campbell says that Berta is a big fan of strikers, and his track record does suggest that he has a great eye for a centre-forward.
Indeed, Atletico Madrid have a rich history of brilliant strikers, and Berta has been responsible for bringing in some star names over the years since starting his role in Madrid in 2013.

Luis Suarez |
Antoine Griezmann |
Julian Alvarez |
Mario Mandzukic |
Memphis Depay |
The above list is a who’s who of some of the best strikers world football has seen in recent times.
Luis Suarez fired Atletico Madrid to a La Liga title, while Antoine Griezmann may go down as Atleti’s greatest ever player when all is said and done.
It’s clear that Berta isn’t afraid to throw big money at big name strikers, and he’ll be hoping to do the same at Arsenal this summer.
Arsenal will be signing a new striker this summer, and with Berta in charge, there’s every chance they find the right man to fire them to a Premier League title.
