Arsenal have held concrete talks with Bayern winger Leroy Sané about a summer move to the Emirates.
He is a player that manager Mikel Arteta knows well from their time together at Manchester City.
The 29 year old is out of contract at the end of the season, and negotiations over a new deal with the prospective German champions are deadlocked, with no signs of a breakthrough. Conflicting reports in Germany suggest that his high salary demands are an issue, but also that he was prepared to accept a pay-cut.
Since making the switch to Bayern nearly five years ago, Sané has won three league titles, and is a regular in the German international side.
The fact that he is out of contract means that he can leave as a free agent, although he would be expecting a healthy signing-on fee from the club he subsequently agrees to join.
