A one-club man no more?

After a campaign that has seen the impact of Thomas Müller diminish significantly at Bayern Munich, it’s not unsurprising that following the Club World Cup the Bavarian icon will part ways with his boyhood club.

Over the last few seasons, a combination of Jamal Musiala’s rise and Thomas Müller’s age-related decline has seen the player’s role at Bayern shift to that of an impact sub. Having played only 36% of available league minutes this season (Transfermarkt), the player won’t be receiving a new contract for the next Bundesliga campaign.

The announcement of Müller’s departure has led to an influx of interest for the player, specifically from MLS teams with FC Cincinnati and San Diego FC having already presented the player with offers. Furthermore, FC Dallas is likely to throw its hat into the ring as the club owner has a relationship with Bayern through the American Football side, the Kansas City Chiefs. The preference in Munich, however, is for Müller to join club partner Los Angeles FC.

Thomas Müller has offers from FC Cincinnati and San Diego FC. In addition, FC Dallas owner Clark Hunt, who has a partnership with Bayern through the Kansas City Chiefs, wants to join the race. Bayern would like to see Müller join their partner club Los Angeles FC should he decide to go to the MLS

Regardless of where Müller ends up, Bayern will hold a testimonial match for their most influential player of the modern age. Müller also has the option to step into a management position at the club in the future should he express the desire to go down that path.

Thomas Müller will have a testimonial match at FC Bayern. And will play for the club at the Club World Cup this summer. Bayern will also support him as he looks for a new club – probably in the USA. Müller will be integrated into Bayern’s management in the future if he wishes to

Thomas Müller’s time in Munich will be unforgettable for the fans and club alike. Müller is a special player and has done so much for Bayern; whoever manages to get him on their books next will be incredibly lucky to have him.
