TBR Football understands Bournemouth are considering a move to bring Aaron Ramsdale back to the football club, although he also remains a transfer target for Newcastle United.
The England international is set to leave Southampton this summer, with the South Coast club in danger of being relegated if they are beaten by Tottenham on Sunday.
Ramsdale, who joined from Arsenal last summer for around £25 million, has a release clause, but the Saints won’t stand in his way should offers arrive.
The 26-year-old wants to make sure he is in Thomas Tuchel’s plans ahead of next summer’s World Cup finals and realises he needs Premier League football.
Bournemouth join Newcastle in the race to sign Aaron Ramsdale
Sources have told Graeme Bailey – chief correspondent at TBR Football that several top-flight clubs have an interest in Aaron Ramsdale, including Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Leeds United.
Bournemouth, who currently have Kepa Arrizabalaga, have not yet ruled out making their deal for the Chelsea goalkeeper permanent – but they are looking at other options.
The Cherries’ list includes Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher, also wanted by Newcastle and Chelsea, but Ramsdale is one of the top names and TBR Football has been told the player himself would be keen on a return to the Vitality Stadium. The goalkeeper is still based around the Bournemouth area.
Newcastle have been looking at goalkeepers as they search for competition for Nick Pope. Burnley’s James Trafford is another target for Newcastle.
Would Aaron Ramsdale be a good signing for Bournemouth or Newcastle?
Ramsdale, who Mikel Arteta previously hailed as ‘exceptional’, has had quite the fall from grace having gone from competing for the Premier League title with Arsenal to being on the verge of relegation with the Saints.

His first season at Arsenal looked very promising as he kept 12 clean sheets and conceded 39 times in 34 appearances in the league.
However, Arteta decided at the end of the 2022/23 season to replace Ramsdale with David Raya, and that proved to be the beginning of the end for him at the Emirates.
Ramsdale had the odd moment of madness in him, but on the whole, he proved himself to be a pretty steady goalkeeper in North London and could be a good addition for Bournemouth or Newcastle.
